In November 10, 2017, the International Campus organized a fire fighting and emergency evacuation drill at No.1 residential college, which served as the prelude to the winter fire campaign in the international campus. Assistant President of ZJU, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of International Campus, ZJU and Vice Dean of International Campus, ZJU, Fu Qiang, related staff from Office of Student Affairs, Office of Campus Development and Management and NO.1 Residential College and more than 100 teachers and students in the campus participated in the drill. Haining fire brigade sent firefighters to participate in the drill and provided on-site guidance.               

        At 14:20 p.m., the drill commander, Mr. Fu Qiang, gave the instruction to begin the drill. In accordance with the drill schedule, Room 730 in Block 6 of No.1 Residential College " caught fire", campus fire control center started the campus fire emergency response plan after confirming the fire incident. In accordance with the requirements of the plan, on-site command group, order maintaining group, firefighting action group, evacuation guidance group, medical security group and Haining fire brigade and other units responded quickly, rushed to the scene to organize the firefighting, rescue and evacuation operations. Each group completed their work according to the program requirements, put out the initial fire, evacuate the personnel in the building and treat “the wounded" timely. The entire firefighting, rescue and evacuation process went on successfully.

        At the end of the evacuation drill, the captain of Haining fire brigade gave comments on the drilling process, he believed that the fire drill was organized tightly, carried out smoothly, responded quickly, handled scientifically and had achieved the expected goal. Fire fighters from Haining fire brigade also introduced the use of fire extinguishers for teachers and students, and gave on-site firefighting demonstration.           

        Director of Office of Campus Development and Management, Ms. Qu Lijuan gave a summary talk to this event, she fully affirmed the significance of the fire drill, emphasized the necessity to take this opportunity and hoped earnestly that campus students and staff can improve fire safety awareness, improve emergency escape and firefighting ability and make joint efforts to build a safe campus.
