Notice Re Fire Prevention in Winter in International Campus

12/31/2020

With the arrival of winter, due to the dry climate and increased electricity consumption, all kinds of fire inducing factors increase and fire accidents are more likely to occur. In order to effectively do a good job of fire safety in winter, the main points for attention to campus fire prevention tips are as follows:

Ⅰ. Fire prevention in offices, places for student activities and campus stores

1. When using electrical equipment, it is strictly forbidden to connect the wires in chaos and use electricity in overload condition. Do not connect multiple high-power electrical appliances on the same socket, so as to avoid short circuit caused by overheating of the plug, which may cause fire.

2. The computer, water dispenser and other equipment should not be in standby state for a long time. Turn off all electrical equipment and cut off the power supply when you leave.

3. Paper shredder and other commonly used office appliances with small volume have poor heat dissipation, so the power plug should be unplugged in time when not in use.

4. Do not burn paper and articles indoors, and do not bring inflammable or explosive articles into public places or office areas.

Ⅱ. Fire prevention in teachers and students' apartments

1. Consciously abide by the safety management regulations of the apartment, do not connect the power cord in private, do not use high-power electrical appliances in violation of regulations, and cut off the power when leaving the dormitory.

2. When using lamps, chargers, computers and other electrical appliances, it is necessary to ensure the heat dissipation of the heating parts, and no flammable items could be placed around them.

3. Refuse and sundries shall not be piled up in stairs or corridors to ensure that the evacuation passageway is unblocked.

4. Do not use open fires or burn items in the dormitory and do not store inflammable and explosive materials in the dormitory.

Ⅲ. Fire prevention in the canteen and construction site

1. To promptly remove the oil dirt on the kitchen stove and smoke exhaust pipe in the operation room of the canteen and the dinning room, and regularly check the reliability of power lines, sockets and natural gas pipelines and valves.

2. The construction site should promptly clean up all kinds of inflammable sundries, strengthen the management of electricity and fire using, and prevent fire caused by improper use of electric welding open flame.

Ⅳ. Fire prevention in laboratory

1. The equipment involved in potential safety hazards must be managed by a special person, with safety operation rules and explicit instructions, and the training, use and maintenance of the equipment records shall be kept.

2. Hazardous chemicals must be kept by special persons, stored in counters, registered and put on record, and the requisition system shall be strictly implemented.

3. Laboratory staff must be familiar with the fire prevention requirements of their positions and the use of fire extinguishers. They must strictly follow the operating rules, and pay attention to safety teaching and scientific research.

4. Students must conduct fire prevention education before entering the laboratory, so that they can understand and master relevant fire requirements and safety knowledge, and ensure the safety during the experiment.

5. Organize regular or irregular safety inspection, and timely rectify the hidden safety problems.

6. The power switch must be turned off before going off work. If it is necessary to continue to use electrical appliances after work due to the experiment, it must be approved by the lab manager and assign a person to take care of it.

7. It is not allowed to connect the power cord in the laboratory privately, so as to avoid the fire caused by overload of electricity.

8. No smoking in the laboratory. If an open flame is used in the experiment, safety precautions should be taken and there must be no flammable objects around.

Prevention is the key to fire safety. Please consciously learn and master fire safety knowledge and the ability to evacuate and rescue yourself. Pay attention to the location of evacuation passageway and safety exit on the floor usually to improve the awareness of fire safety.
